I started working as a veterinarian in 2005. Initially, I was a consultant/salesman in a network of veterinary pharmacies in Óbuda and later in the 12th district. There I got to know the full range of veterinary medicines and practiced my advisory skills.
In May 2008, I switched to pet medicine, which was of much more interest to me. Until May 2017, I worked as a permanent and substitute veterinarian in a small number of practices in and around Budapest. It was during these years that I acquired my practical knowledge.
In addition to my work in the clinic, I have always performed treatments at home, at first with a smaller emphasis, and then this direction became stronger. I wanted to be more attentive to my patients and their environment, which I found difficult to do in the practice. The structure and operation of the Veterinary Home Visit enabled me to provide personalised patient care at the home, an examination of the patient and his/her immediate environment, and specialist advice.
My daughter, Zenke, was born in June 2017, and after the subsequent expiry of her GYED, I have been practicing exclusively as a house call veterinarian since January 2018.
My qualifications
Between 1999-2004 I studied at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Szeged (formerly and currently University of Veterinary Medicine), receiving my veterinary doctorate in November 2004. In addition to my university studies, I obtained a higher qualification in hunting and game management.
In March 2018, I obtained the qualification of Veterinary Specialist in Exotic Animals and started working in this speciality.
I speak English at a conversational level and German at a basic level.
dr. Verena Flanter
As a dedicated veterinarian, my journey in animal care began at the University of Veterinary Medicine of Budapest, where I honed my skills and passion for healing animals. Following my graduation in 2023, I embarked on a path of diverse experiences, shaping me into the veterinarian I am today.
My early career saw me assisting in orthopedic surgeries in Szentendre, and later, I served as an anesthesiologist for a diagnostic imaging company in Újpest. These roles equipped me with invaluable expertise and a deep understanding of animal health care.
In 2024, I found my calling as a House Call Veterinarian, joining forces with Dr. Dominika Szűcs. This transition allowed me to fulfill my vision of providing personalized care to pets in the comfort of their own homes. I firmly believe that by eliminating the stress of clinic visits, I can dedicate ample time to each patient, fostering a sense of security and well-being.
My passion for animals traces back to my upbringing in Munich, where I was surrounded by a menagerie of beloved pets, including parrots, dogs, cats, fishes, horses, bees, and rodents. These early experiences instilled in me a profound love for animals and ignited my desire to advocate for their welfare.
In addition to my veterinary pursuits, I am an avid outdoorswoman, holding hunting and fishing licenses acquired during my formative years. Fluent in both English and German, I have been providing services in these languages, while also immersing myself in learning Hungarian since last year, as I plan my future in Hungary with my partner.
Under my care your pets well-being is my top priority. With a blend of expertise, compassion, and personalized attention, I am committed to ensuring the health and happiness of your cherished companions.
